Park Pal Pro Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-08-17

Important — what this app is

Park Pal Pro is a tool that helps you understand complex parking site rules by reading a sign and explaining it simply. We do not own, operate or enforce any parking site, and we do not manage parking payments; where an operator offers app or web managed parking we may link out to them. It remains the full responsibility of the site operator to sign and operate the site lawfully and within site conditions. We are not responsible or liable for any PCN, parking charge, fine, clamping or towing received at any location — see section 18.

These terms are a contract between you and Park Pal Pro (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app. Our privacy notice explains how we handle your personal data and forms part of these terms.

1. Who can use Park Pal Pro

You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter into a contract. The app is intended for users in the United Kingdom; parking rules and PCN procedures elsewhere may differ.

2. Your account

You need an account with a verified email address. Sign-up requires your first name, surname, email address and mobile number; you may add a postal address so we can populate PCN letters. Keep this information accurate and keep your password confidential.

You are responsible for activity on your account. Accounts are personal — do not share them. Tell us immediately at support@parkpalpro.co.uk if you think your account has been accessed without permission.

We use email verification, password strength checks and one-time reset links by email to protect accounts. Disposable or throwaway email addresses are blocked.

3. Sign scanning and AI explanations

Park Pal Pro uses AI to read photos of parking signs and present a plain-English summary using a traffic-light key: green for what is allowed, amber for restrictions to watch, red for what is not allowed.

This is guidance, not legal or professional advice. AI can misread damaged, unusual, partly hidden or poorly lit signs, and can miss details such as operator names, location codes or maximum stay. Always check the sign yourself before you park. You remain responsible for where and how long you park and for any charge you receive.

Only photograph signs and documents you are entitled to photograph, and avoid capturing people, vehicle registration marks or other personal information where you can.

4. Location data

If you allow location access, we record the coordinates, accuracy, date and time of a scan so your session record stands up as evidence. Location accuracy depends on your device and surroundings, and may be wrong or unavailable. You can confirm or correct the location before submitting a scan, and you can turn location permission off in your device settings — some features will be limited if you do.

5. Timers, reminders and notifications

You choose a session start time and duration, and the app can alert you 30 and 15 minutes before your parking is due to expire, by in-app alert and — where you enable and permit it — device push notification. Pro+ users may also opt in to SMS or WhatsApp reminders; standard messaging rates from your provider may apply and you can withdraw consent at any time.

Reminders depend on your device, browser, operating system, battery settings and network. They can be delayed, duplicated or missed. Do not rely on them alone to return to your vehicle or to extend your stay.

6. Third-party parking payment apps

Where a site supports a payment app such as RingGo or PayByPhone, we may link to that app or its store listing. Those services are operated by third parties under their own terms. We do not take parking payments, do not start or extend a parking session for you, and are not responsible for third-party apps or the accuracy of location codes shown on signs.

7. PCN challenge tools

Park Pal Pro+ can draft a challenge letter from the information you supply, your session record and the documents you upload. You must upload the PCN and any related correspondence for the draft to be complete, and you must review, edit and send it yourself.

Drafts are assistance only. They are not legal advice, we are not a law firm or a claims-management service, and we cannot guarantee any outcome. Deadlines for challenging a PCN are strict and are your responsibility. You are responsible for the accuracy and honesty of everything you submit to an operator, council or tribunal.

8. Uploads and the attachment manager

You may upload photos and documents as evidence and organise them as appendices. Uploads must be your own or lawfully held by you, must not contain malware, and must meet the file type and size limits shown in the app. You grant us a licence to store and process your uploads solely to provide the features you request.

9. Public Locations library

When you share a photo, location summary or parking tip to the public Locations library, you confirm that it is yours to share, is accurate and lawful, and contains no people, vehicle registration marks, home addresses or other personal information. Public locations are rounded to reduce precision.

You grant us and other users a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display and use your contribution within the app. Contributions form part of the shared parking database and time-stamped evidence record and are kept indefinitely; if you delete your account they are anonymised. If a contribution contains personal information or breaches these terms, contact us and we will review and remove it. We may moderate, edit or remove contributions at any time.

10. Acceptable use and fair usage

You must not:

  • use the app for anything unlawful, misleading or fraudulent;
  • submit content that is offensive, infringing, or contains other people’s personal information;
  • use bots, scrapers or automation, or create accounts in bulk;
  • attempt to bypass rate limits, paywalls, security controls or access other users’ data;
  • resell, rent or commercially redistribute the app or its content without our written permission.

We apply per-user rate limits on scans, uploads, library posts, tips and PCN records to keep the service fast and to prevent spam. Excessive or automated activity may be blocked, throttled or result in suspension.

11. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

Park Pal Pro is free to use for scanning, timers and the Locations library. Park Pal Pro+ unlocks the PCN challenge tools, the attachment manager and premium reminder options, at £1.99 per month or £20 per year unless a different price is shown at checkout. Prices include VAT where applicable and may change with notice before your next renewal.

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time in your profile; access continues to the end of the paid period and we do not refund part-periods except where the law requires. Payments are handled by our payment provider — we never see or store your full card details.

If you are a consumer you have a 14-day right to cancel a new subscription. By starting to use paid features immediately you ask us to begin the service within that period and accept that your refund may be reduced to reflect what you have used.

Referral rewards, free months and beta or test accounts are discretionary and may be withdrawn or changed.

12. Advertising and sponsors

The app may show sponsor banners. These are not personalised using your personal data, and we do not endorse advertisers or their products. Dealings with an advertiser are between you and them.

13. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the app available but it is provided on an “as available” basis. We may change, suspend or withdraw features, run maintenance, or archive older records to keep the service fast. We will give reasonable notice of material changes to these terms in the app or by email; continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.

14. Our responsibility to you

We provide the app with reasonable care and skill. Because sign reading, timers, reminders and appeal drafts are assistance only, we are not liable for parking charges, PCNs, fines, clamping, towing, missed deadlines or unsuccessful appeals arising from your use of the app.

We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Otherwise, and to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or unforeseeable loss, and our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period or £50. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

15. Intellectual property

We own the app, its branding and its content, except for content you upload. You keep ownership of your uploads and contributions, subject to the licences described above.

16. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Profile > Privacy; deletion is completed in line with the retention periods in our privacy notice. We may suspend or end accounts that breach these terms or abuse the service, normally with notice unless we must act immediately.

17. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, without affecting rights you have under the law of your home nation.

Questions, complaints or content reports: support@parkpalpro.co.uk. For privacy requests, see our privacy notice.

18. What Park Pal Pro is — and what it is not

Park Pal Pro is an information tool. It reads photos of parking signs and explains the site rules in simple language, keeps a time- and location-stamped record of your session, and reminds you before your stay ends.

  • We do not own, operate, manage, maintain or enforce any parking site.
  • We do not take or manage parking payments. Where an operator offers app or web payment, we may link out to that service; any payment or extension is a matter between you and that operator or payment provider.
  • It remains the full responsibility of the site operator to sign the site lawfully and to operate and enforce within the site conditions.
  • We are not responsible or liable for any Penalty Charge Notice, parking charge notice, fine, penalty, clamping, towing, removal or other cost you receive in connection with parking at any location, however it arises.
  • Checking the physical sign, complying with it, and paying for your parking remain your responsibility as the driver.
